Stegi Agapis - The Evangelist John
The Stegi Agapis The Evangelist John is a non-profit organization with a purely charitable orientation. In its boarding house in Peania, Attica, it accommodates elderly people in an atmosphere of family love and care. The building of the Boarding Stegi Agapis, with a surface area of approximately 3,700 square meters, is divided into four levels and is located within a 16-acre estate in which there are beautiful gardens, two ponds, vineyards, olive trees, fruit and other trees, large cages for songbirds and other birds, etc. for the walk and recreation of the boarders.
The inspirers and founders of Stegi Agapis were the late George and Catherine Emmanuel, who, inspired by faith in God and Christian love and assisted by their good partners, created a place of hospitality for the elderly, many of whom have limited or non-existent financial resources, in order for its guests to have a good and decent living in the twilight years of their lives and the possibility, if they so desire, to participate in the Sacraments of our Orthodox Church. To this end, two churches have been erected in the area of Stegi Agapis, the Church of St. Nektarios and the Church of St. John the Theologian, which have been operating on a continuous basis (alternately) since the foundation of our Boarding House. The Boarding Stegi Agapis is an extremely neat and tidy place, fully equipped, well maintained and modern. It has experienced staff, physiotherapists and a doctor to cater for the needs of the boarders. It has been running continuously since the year 1988.
